I am only 4 weeks along and made my first appt. for 12/11. There was no mention of bloodwork before then, but I see a lot of ladies listing betas early on in their pregnancy. Should I be getting bloodwork done or is normal to not not have anything until 1st apt?
Re: No blood work?
It's typical not to get betas done. Typically they are only done if you are high risk, have experienced previous losses, etc...

While some OB's offer a confirmation blood test, getting your hormones checked regularly is not something that typically happens unless there's a reason. For me, it was that I have a history of infertility. For others, it might be previous pregnancy loss. It might seem like we're getting a little extra perk, but trust me it's not worth the history behind it.
Congrats, and best of luck at your appt!

It depends, my wife didn't have any blood work taken until the first appointment which was 8 to 10 in, but those that are trying for a while or our considered high risk usually get the blood work done in the 4 to 6 period.
With our first one, we had a relatively boring pregnancy and hoping for a repeat with this one.
I remember being on here with my first pregnancy wondering the same thing about betas. The other ladies have answered your question...you don't need betas done. With my pregnancy with my son I had bloodwork done at my first visit (rh factor, AIDS test - in our state it's required for the mother or baby to be tested, so i just did it - thyroid test, chicken pox immunity, etc). There was no confirmation of pregnancy even done in that blood test - they just had me POAS at my appointment. During my second pregnancy I was having some concerns so they drew betas and I subsequently m/c. This time I had betas done because of the m/c.
Best of luck for your first appointment!
