Hi
I just realized this board was here a couple days ago. I am Canadian and living in St. Monans, Fife in Scotland. DH has a research position at the university of St. Andrews so we are here for at least 4 years, possibly permanent.
I had a baby boy on August 16th. I really liked the health system here, even better than in Canada. I had a high risk pregnancy because I am a stroke survivor. Everything turned out great.
I am hoping to travel back to Canada in March for a couple weeks to surprise my dad who hasn't met DS yet. My sister is in on this plan, we are not telling anyone. She is going to leave me at the nearest Timmies with DS and somehow get my parents to go there with her where I will be waiting with DS so my Dad can meet him.
I am sure I will have questions in the future about traveling overseas with a baby.
Re: Canadian in Scotland, intro
Hi and welcome
DH and I are both Americans living in Aberdeen, Scotland with our 10 month old DD and rescue dog, Max! We also moved here because of a job opportunity for DH and plan to be here 3-4 years.
This board has many well-seasoned travellers who give great advice for travel with kids!

Welcome to the board! DH had an interview at the U of Aberdeen a year ago August, but we ended up down in New Zealand.
I think your plan is absolutely brilliant - and your parents are just going to freak! (God how I miss Timmy's!)
Keep us updated as to the plans (where are you specifically travelling to?)
Hello and welcome.
I'm a Canadian living on the Isle of Man (little island in the Irish Sea).
We moved here 18 months ago with our son who just turned 3. Expecting another baby in the next few months. DH got a great job offer here so that's the reason we've moved to such a small and interesting place. So far we really like it although it is quite different to where we're from - Vancouver.
Your Timmies surprise visit sounds so sweet. Your father will be thrilled!
Hi and welcome! DH and I are both Americans and we're in Scotland too - in Edinburgh. St Andrews is beautiful, I love the beach there.
I have been really impressed with my care here as well and I'm loving all the pregnancy perks you get in this country that are unheard of in the states. I'm so pleased with how this worked out for us. I'll be watching for the answers on travelling with a baby!
