Penicillin Allergy?

Does anyone elses LO have a penicillin allergy?  DD is covered from head to toe in hives and I want to know if there is anything I can do to keep her comfortable until her doctors appointment this afternoon.  Any input would be great!

  • Benadryl but check with your pedi first.

Our pedi says NO benadryl until after LO is a year old.

OP, does your LO seem to be bothered by the hives? You may not need to do much except just be there for comfort. The only things that I would do are:

    Keep long sleeves/pants on

    Oatmeal bath

    Tylenol as needed

GL! I hope your LO feels better!

  • She is scratching her head and neck, and is generally miserable.  I am wondering if she is having an internal reaction too because she won't drink more than 2 oz at a time.

  • Is it cold where you are? If so, bundle her up and go for a walk to distract her from the itching. Also, if she will let you, try giving her a good rub down vs. scratching to get relief. Avoid any lotions that have any smells as that could make the skin reaction worse. Aveeno with oatmeal might be good to try.
