My daughter is 9 months, and ebf. Whenever she has had dairy in the past(even if I drank or ate it) she would vomit some and her bottom would break out from front to back in a very red rash.
Her pediatrician suggested letting her have dairy every couple of months to see if she was tolerating it. I gave her some grilled cheese the other day, she threw up 4-5 times today, and her bottom is so red from the front all the way up her hiney crack(and I change her very often. I can't stand my baby to be in a wet diaper!)
I am concerned that she won't grow out of this intolerance. Any of you guys have experience with this?
Re: Dairy Intolerance
DD1 is allergic to dairy, soy, and eggs, but she is on her way to outgrowing them. Her levels went down drastically between age 1 and 2.
I would avoid dairy completely and take LO to a pedi allergist at age 1 for testing. If it's truly an intolerance, an allergy test will be negative. I would want to have her tested to see if it is actually an allergy. If so, you'd need to be more vigilant in avoiding dairy and have a treatment plan for accidental exposure, [ie, Benadryl, EpiPen].
DD1: allergic to eggs & dairy
c/p 4/1/11
DD2: milk and soy protein intolerant, allergic to eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, bananas
