Parenting after a Loss

UPDATE: Eczema?

Anyone else have any experience with this? We've started a bedtime routine that includes a bath every night, and while we aren't using soap more than two or three times a week, DD has developed some scaly, dry skin on her elbows and ankles. I'm assuming it's related to the bathing? Not sure if I need to fret or not. I've been putting Aveeno Baby eczema therapy on her after her bath.

ETA: Spoke with DD's pediatrician and she said to bathe her for at least 15 minutes, as anything less will actually dry out her skin. We're using CA Baby soap, which she said is fine to keep using, though I guess J&J would've dried her out too much. She also recommended that we slather DD with Aquaphor when she's still damp and get her into her jammies straightaway. She recommended we try this for a week and see if things clear up. I hope they do!

DS's back is so dry and irritated. We only do baths every few days so it doesn't get worse. I've been using avenno wash and lotion but I'm calling the dr tomorrow to see if they can recommend something better.

I think I need to call the pediatrician, too. Everything I read online is conflicting (bathe more, bathe less, moisturize, don't moisturize). Poor DD. Cradle cap and now this! I think she inherited daddy's skin.

    Hope DS gets better soon!

  • :lurking: at this age no soap is really needed, they really aren't dirty enough and i would try olive oil for cradle cap-- works well too! try aquaphor for dry skin or mustela products work well too. gl!

  • My dd has eczema and we were told not to bathe her daily, we only bathe her every other day. We use everything fragrance free and just started using aveeno baby eczema therapy lotion which seems to help.
