M is getting dropped off for good any minute now. I know we need to bring up the legal guardianship thing (if you haven't seen previous posts, right now they have only given us notarized forms to seek medical treatment). When the grandmother asks, "Why?" what should I say?
In my eyes, the answer of, "Because she will be living with us for at least 6 months" is reason enough. But for some reason she had temporary custody transferred to her and is not offering to let it be transferred to us. We may just have to petition the court I'm thinking. No judge could find reason to turn us down - the state already has us licensed to adopt 2 kids, so why wouldn't they let us temporarily have one we are related to?
Re: How to word the "Guardianship" discussion?
We brought it up, and M's grandmother said the reason they would prefer us not to go for guardianship is that child support from M's father would stop for 6-8 months.
We will call our social worker tomorrow and see what they say about the situation.

4/11 Started adoption process for 2 siblings through DCF. 10/12 Found out we are licensed! 12/14 Brought 3 week old identical twin girls home from the hospital. Could be at least until Summer 1015 til we know if they are forever ours
I love the bolded part. I am hoping our social worker can help us sort through all of this. Taking in a relative isn't the road we thought we were taking, but I am so happy we can be here for M. Life sure throws you curve balls when you least expect them!
