I forget what the "requirement" was but I didn't drive until 3 weeks pp because I was in the hospital for 5 days and then mh was home for 2 weeks. I know some ladies that had no choice but to drive a week out.

I believe the restriction was 2 weeks. I was in the hospital 10 days, but I think I drove at 13 days. I had stopped taking the percocet while in the hospital - I would never drive while taking that because it makes me realy loopy.
I wasn't given any indications whatsoever but I won't be driving until my 6 week f-u appt. I'm ubercautious though. I believe that 2 weeks is the norm.
I was told as long as I could stomp on the brakes and wasn't taking loritab. For me, that was 7 days. However, I didn't drive until 3 weeks out and couldn't take DD anywhere alone for six weeks because I couldn't get the car seat in and out of my truck without pain!
I still haven't driven yet, but my doc explained it like this: If I was driving and had to slam on my breaks, would my first thought be "oh no my incision!", and if so, I should wait to drive.
That and as long as I'm not taking any pain killers of course!
I was given the go ahead at my one week check-up! I only drove a little bit at a time but it didn't bother me at all and I was soooo excited to be able to get out of the house on my own time.

I was told 2 full weeks, even not being on pain meds because reaction time if I needed to break quickly, etc. would be slower and I'd be more likely to injure myself. To be completely honest, though, I drove 8 days out because my H was not around (deployed) and I *needed* to get out of the house. I was never on strong pain meds, only ibuprofen.

Re: Driving after C-section
Same.
This.
This. I waited about 3 weeks because my mom lives nearby and I had no where I needed to go alone before that.
I still haven't driven yet, but my doc explained it like this: If I was driving and had to slam on my breaks, would my first thought be "oh no my incision!", and if so, I should wait to drive.
