Honestly, no.  Now, check with me again in a few hours and things may change. But the election of 2008, specifically Prop 8, changed me forever.  While I understand the magnitude of the election and how much we have to win or lose, I won't put my whole heart out there to worry about it.  We can't win forever.  Eventually the other party will be in control again.  That's life and it's going to happen again in my lifetime.  Prop 8 really really fvcked me up.  Nothing, nothing, can even come close to that for me, so I guess in a way this all sort of pales in comparison and I just can't get all stressed out about what happens tonight.

Doing anything I can to avoid watching election coverage until it is closer to being done. I will never forget when Michigan passed the ban on gay marriage. I cried. I was devastated. I was even more devastated knowing my parents voted yes. 

 They just don't understand what will happen if he wins. I rest a bit better knowing my vote and my wife's vote cancelled out both of my parents. 

Rest easy friends, we can get through this.

Yes. Freaking out. In Minnesota, we've heard our relationship battered on a daily basis for 15 months.  It's been non-stop. I've volunteered for the campaign and have so much respect for the incredible work they've done. The polls are extremely close and we are possibly on the verge of becoming the first state to defeat an anti-marriage amendment.  It would mean so much for my family, my friends, and my congregation...

I care so much about the Presidency, but given the anti-marriage amendment, I haven't given it my heart in the same way.

LolaBelle, I totally get it. Part of it for me is that there's really so much at stake - all of the marriage questions, the presidency (and SCOTUS), the senate... I have to keep reminding myself to breathe.

My prayers are with you and your family. I firmly believe we will prevail eventually. I want it to be now for Minnesota.

Obama wins Michigan. My state. Thank GOD. Dems are winning Senate. Mass elects Democrat into Senate. This is good. 

We just need Florida. We can do this. We can continue making progress for our families.

 My best friend is from Ohio, and we always joke with her about the rivalry between Ohio and Michigan. Last night, we definitely thanked her! She did her part! Michigan did, also. We voted for Obama and recalled a Troy politician who is known for making gay slurs. We may still have a gay marriage ban, but maybe we are moving FORWARD. 

Let's hope!

This was a great win for us! Especially with the LGBT wins in 4 states last night.

I also live in the south, Texas most specifically. I completely understand and know that same sex marriage will most likely never make it to our ballot at least not in my lifetime.  So my marriage to M will never be recognized in this state. On that note, while the South is not leading the charge in that manner, with more and more states allowing same sex marriage, it makes it harder for the south to pass constitutional changes that would completely ban it.   I figure eventually even the southern states will follow suit once the rest of the US allows same sex marriage.  Like I said it probably won't be in my lifetime or it will towards the end of it.  Either way last nights election took us one setup closer.

As far is being in the South and what has Obama done for us... Besides the things already posted, I have had so much better coverage for my pregnancy and have been able to save that money I planned on spinning to my boys on the way.  Even with private insurance, the healthcare changes have put probably close to $1500 back in my pocket!   M can now visit me in the hospital and is less likely to be turned away and more likely to be able to make the calls on my healthcare if I cannot speak for myself. 

He may not have passed things specifically in the South but hey that's a states prerogative not  Obama's call, but he has lead us on a better path for equality on a federal level.   I honestly believe if the election would have gone the other way, it would have set us back at least 50 years as far as equality.

I don't live in Troy, but I'm proud of Troy! I'm proud of Minnesota. It's a step! These were all massive steps last night. Romney lost his own State--every county. It says a lot about what we are willing to put up with. Maine, Maryland and Washington State legalized same-sex marriage. STEPS!!!

Just chiming in that I agree with PP on the progress we've experienced. I'm in CA and its sad that gay marriage has been such a battle ground here but I have hope for the future. Much of the antigay marriage funding around Prop 8 last election came from the Mormon church...

Did anyone read Obama's letter to the little girl with two days written a few days ago I believe. Very touching.

THIS. OH has a gay marriage ban and I was devastated when it passed 8 years ago BUT with all of those states passing theirs yesterday we are moving in the right direction!
