High-Risk Pregnancy

Bed resters, what's the high point of your Tuesday?

What is going on today?

GTKY: do you have a male or female OB/MFM? Did you have a strong preference one way or another?

Re: Bed resters, what's the high point of your Tuesday?

  • I had a good appt today. Cervix is measuring 2.9!! It's been 2.5 for weeks; how it is getting longer I have no idea. After today...no more cervical length checks!!! Woo hoo! And my MFM said I can cut back my iron to 2x day instead of 3, which should improve things in the plumbing dept. I am really happy about all of this.

GTKY: My MFM is a woman. In fact, I'd say half the OB's in this practice are women which I really prefer. When I was getting my cerclage, the team consisted of 6 people: 2 doctors and 2 nurses performing the surgery, all female, and 2 male anaesthesiologists who stayed near my head throughout the procedure. Thought that was kind of funny!

  • I had a good appt. too! My cervix was measuring 1.9 which is essentially give or take what it was last week...not long, but longer than it had been the 3 appts. before! And it was closed without any funneling! My doc was very happy! I also had a growth scan and baby girl looked great, measuring 3 lb. 10 oz., fluid looked good too! So reassuring to know that everything is still hanging on and I have made it to 30 wks!

Gtky: my ob is a woman and my MFM is a man...I used to prefer only female docs, but my MFM is who did my cerclage and I have had to see a male doc at my ob practice when my regular ob wasn't available and I have started to care less and less...I still love my OB and would just prefer her in general, but I'm okay with seeing a male doc when I have to now.

  • Still looking for child care, had to make phone calls and tour appointments. DH is upset with me because I insist on going to my wax appointment without him!

GTKY: Both my Ob & MFM are male, I prefer male doctors. My first Ob/gyn was female, she was freaked me out! My current doctors have female partners who have made insensitive and inaccurate comments about my pregnancy, which is what my first Ob/gyn did when I saw her. I find male doctors more sensitive and understanding.

  • Having a tough day today. I had a 3D u/s appt tonight which my DH has made me reschedule. He is going out of town next week and does not want me over-doing it this week before he goes. I am glad he is so concerned with my well being and the babies, but I was really looking forward to getting out of the house. My next CL check is on Thursday, hopefully we get some good news!

GTKY: My OB and MFM are both females and I really like them. My RE (reproductive endocrinologist) was a male and I really didn't mind it, although the first u/s was a little awkward with my hubby in the room ;)

  • My friend stopped by for a visit today... And she brought me all her cloth diapers! So excited to go through the stash and see what I have to work with and so thankful for her generosity. I know I will need to fill in with some new CD but she got me off to a great start!

GTKY: My doctors are all female (PCP, OB and RE). I prefer female. Thankfully, my doctor works alone so she does all her own deliveries, but if I were to be assigned a male nurse at the hospital, I'll be requesting a female.

  • Went out to vote and get my eyebrows waxed today, both were equally painful. Been doing the GD diet since Friday, is taking some getting used to, but not horrible.

GTKY: my OB and MFM are one in the same right now. He is male and is the only one that ever took me seriously about having infertility issues, so I completely trust him. I mostly see his NPs who are female though, so best of both worlds IMO. My RE was also a male, but I mostly saw the nurses there too.
