Crib Transition Tonight

After DS's rough past few nights we're starting to think he is uncomfortable and outgrowing his RnP.  He is pretty much the length of the RnP and it doesn't give him much room to stretch out.  At night when I put him in the RnP after feedings he's exceptionally fussy and is constantly trying to kick/stretch and gets frustrated when he can't.  Last night was a rough night and the only time he really slept was when I was at my wits end and I brought him into the nursery and put him in his crib.  I turned the monitor on and let him fuss for a bit and within 10mins he was out like a light.  I talked to DH and we agreed that we're going to try to transition him starting tonight and see how he does.  Hopefully all of us get a much better night sleep.

For you girls with older LO's any suggestions for making the transition easier? How long did it take for your LO to get used to sleeping in the crib and not in the room with you?

Keep as much consistant as you can.  If there is a certain nightlight, white noise, swaddle, etc...bring that into the nursery as well.  For those in cooler climates (so apparently not you, lol) I'd recommend having a flannel sheet in the crib instead of a regular one.  The regular ones get really cold in the cool winter months and would wake D up the second he was set down on them.

D transitioned pretty quickly.  Maybe a day or two and it was old hat.  I did it at like 4 mos.

Thank you for the advice! We actually no longer live in FL and moved back to our home town in NJ about 2yrs ago but TB wont let me update my location!

It took L 2 weeks. For the very first time last night she slept through the night in her big girl bed (crib) in her room. 

I bought the light up music playing seahorse from heaven.  She loves that thing.  It helped me to feel better like I wasn't leaving her in there by herself either.  It plays music and has a light for about 5 mins then will shut off.  Sometimes it takes us 3 rounds of seahorse before she will go to sleep.

We used seahorse for SD also! Loved it, and SD has been generous enough to pass it onto lil sis :] I just need to get new batteries!

He was used to the angle of the RnP and he had reflux so we angled the mattress slightly.  It made him comfortable enough and was similar enough to to angle of the RnP that he slept on it. 

We bought a baby einstein batter pperated mobile, it goes for twenty minutes with lights then the motion stops and over the next few minutes the lights fade, then the music fades out, it also has a remote control so if he isn't asleep when it cuts off I don't have to go back into his room and get him all upset I just use the remote.

I also put a lovie (little fuzzy dog) in my bra and carried it around all day for a week and everytime I put him in the crib I gave it to him.  He won't sleep without it now but hey at least he sleeps with it.
