Gas/cramping?

Probably some TMI but do not remember this from my DD. I know they gave me simethicone in the hospital the first couple of days and I was confused as to why with DD. even with DS it kind of had me confused. Now I'm 2.5 weeks PP and OMG when I have to pass gas or poop the pains in my gut are horrible. I feel like I can literally feel everything moving in my intestines it hurts! How long is this supposed to last? Does beano or simethicone for adults work? It goes away immediately after I poop but man it's uncomfortable!

Re: Gas/cramping?

  • They sent me home with the simethicone...colace...I don't remember what it was. I don't remember how long it lasted, but definitely use it if you are uncomfortable.

  • I am 4 weeks out and still am having a little bit of this.  I have been using a half does of miralax daily to keep things moving.  I didn't have this issue with #1.  I think a lot of it is due to the drugs that we are given during surgery/after surgery.  Are you still taking pain killers?

  • I stopped taking the pain meds the day before yesterday but I wasnt constipated either. A friend of mine said her gas pain was horrendous when I was still pregnant and I thought that was crazy... until now when its happening to me. Im waiting for a call back from OB who is probably going to think Im crazy lol. Just curious I guess if people are having the same issue. Maybe after a few days of no narcotics itll even itself out... we shall see.

    Thanks!

  • I just responded to your other post too-yep, same symptoms. It was like I could feel things in transit through my intestines each morning before I went to the bathroom and it would take my breath away it hurt so much. I was surprised because I took the colace twice a day every day. It stopped hurting like that around 3 weeks post RCS for me, but up to that point it was awful. It wasn't that way for me the first time around either.
