We are a little different since we are foster parents, who are fostering to foster. We knew that path was right for us since we wanted kids in our lives and nothing else felt right. We also were reassured that as we proceeded through the licensing process that we could back out if we needed at any point. But the decision just felt more and more right the more involved we became.
This! We made our decision when the thought of stepping foot in the RE's office again made us both sad and the fact that I became really open to adoption when before I was pretty closed off to the idea. I reaffirmed my feelings this month when my period never showed (CD 41 and counting!) and I was more concerned about getting pregnant than excited about the idea.
After 2 years of IF workups/treatments and 2 IUIs, we have closed the door on fertility treatments.
We are very excited to be pursuing international adoption from China!
6000 miles and a day
I agree with this - we've really just been trying to figure our financial issues, plus classes don't start for a while anyway if we adopt from foster care but it was a major turning point when AF was late and I was concerned, not excited. There is so much pain in that for me, and so much hope in looking to adoption.
