anxiety at 2?

My 2 yo has started in the last two month crying hysterically whenever I take her anywhere new.  Even though I am staying with her at the park, art place, preschool, persons home, etc. She has a 20 minute extreme crying screaming meltdown freak out shaking saying I want to go home.  Once she settles down and starts playing with me right next to her she is fine, but it is getting so exhausting.  Any ideas on how to help? I have a call in to the Ped.
