Recommend Your Highchair

DD is getting a highchair for Christmas (right now she is using the Bumbo). I've been reading reviews on the Graco Contempo and am leaning towards it, but I am not completely sold on it yet. Size isn't an issue, but I do want a removable/washable cover. I really wanted a wooden one, but I've given up on that.

Re: Recommend Your Highchair

  • What made you give up on a wooden one?  Are they really pricey?  I got a highchair at my shower and I'm debating whether to open it or not.  I was thinking about getting the kind that attaches to a chair or getting a wooden one.  We have an open concept floor plan and I would have to look at it all day long, so I think I want one that is more my style.

I wanted the wooden one to match my decor also, but I can't find on I like (probably being overly picky). The Eddie Bauer ones are pretty comparably priced with the big plastic ones, but I don't like the wooden chair with the plastic tray. I want a wood chair and wood tray. Graco makes this one that I really like and matches our decor, but they had a recall and aren't sold anymore. I've looked on Craigslist for used wooden ones, but haven't had much luck. If anyone has a recommendation on a wood one, I would definitely appreciate it, but I don't have much hope for the wooden one :(

  • I have the Chicco Polly, and it's fine. I honestly would probably get a space saver one that sits on a chair just so I could have one less large item in my house. I did use the Eddie Bauer wooden one with DD1, as that's what my parents have at their house. It was fine too, but quite a bit heavier.
  • I have the keekaroo wooden high chair.  So far I like it, easy to clean, smaller profile, removable tray.  My son has only been sitting in it for around 2 weeks since I did not get the infant support insert.

  • Well I have the Eddie Bauer and love it : sorry you don't. We also have a travel one that straps to a chair, both are in use since I have 2u2

Ditto on the Keekaroo. It has a wood tray with a plastic cover. We really love how well it goes with the rest of our decor. Our kitchen/living room is one big area and this fits in. I read a review on Stokke vs Svan vs Keekaroo, and I was sold on how much easier to clean the Keekaroo is, as well as it's affordability. We opted for the infant insert, but might have been fine without.

  • We have the Space Saver ones and they are great, I love them.  Super easy to clean and don't take up any more space since I just have them on our existing chairs.

  • I got the Keekaroo. FWIW diapers.com has a 20% off coupon code for it right now (THANKSBABY) with free 2-day shipping. Worked out well. Thanks ladies!
