Random vent

So it looks like we have been matched!! Which is great. The boys sound great for family.

For some reason, whenever I tell people about the boys they ask "What race are they?" And then act surprised that they are white.

Just a personal pet peeve!!

  • Hooray for being matched!  How exciting!

Boo for stupid people.  It still amazes me the things people will say.

  • Congrats!!

I am with you on the race question. We get that as well. People are shocked that we have "2 white babies". They are so stupid because one is bi-racial.  Confused

  • But you KNOW, white people are always responsible with their life decisions and never get into situations they aren't able to handle.

    I mean, DUH. [eyeroll]

    Pet peeve indeed!

We get a lot of "what colour are children from Russia" and I never know what to say. I may start to ask what colour Canadians are and see if they get it.

DO IT! I'd ask what color Texans are, but around here that's kind of a loaded question. [some people get very cranky about staying the majority. talk about white privilege...]

  • Thanks for the congrats, I should focus on that.  Just get peeved at people's ignorance sometimes.

The transition will maybe be about 5 weeks? So early/Mid-December.  We will likely do some day visits near them, a day visit at our house, then an overnight at our house.

  • So excited for you!  This is the same type of foster-adopt situation we are looking for.  All the best to you and your family!

And I completely agree - wtf on the race thing.  I always feel like people need to "put everyone in their category" when they do that. Yuck.
