is there a certain way to sleep or not to sleep? i'm about 4 to 5wks. i usually fall asleep on my stomach.. thanks for the advice!

Re: sleeping position

  • As I recall, it doesn't matter too much at this point. Later on (can't remember if it's second tri or 20 weeks -- sorry, baby brain--) it is recommended that you sleep on your left side for optimal circulation.  I don't remember exactly, so I am sure someone will clarify all this for both of us. :)

  • I thought I read somewhere that when pregnant laying on your left side is best, but don't quote me on that. Sleeping on your stomach may not be comfortable for much longer though with a growing baby belly :)
  • You can sleep however you want right now. Enjoy it while you can ;-). Later in your pregnancy, you won't be able to sleep on your back. My Dr didn't give me a set timeframe for that, she just said, that my body will tell me when it's time to stop. She said I would feel symptoms like dizziness that it was time to stop before anything ever happened to the baby. Technically, I think sleeping on your left side is "best", but honestly, by the end, you will just be so happy to get sleep in whatever position, it doesn't really matter.

This! Enjoy lying however you want right now because you will eventually be confined to just your sides. When it's time to stop lying on your back, you'll know.
