Cloth Diapering

Tide detergent and sensitive skin.

I have heard great things about using tide on CDs but I am worried about it causing rashes due to sensitive skin.

I had some allergy issues with scented detergents so I use unscented soaps. H also has sensitive skin.

Anyone have a baby with sensitive skin that does okay with using scented laundry soap? (I don't want to buy a box of soap at costco and waste it because baby is allergic.)

Re: Tide detergent and sensitive skin.

  • DD is pretty sensitive and we use Charlie's Soap with no issue, does a great job cleaning as well.  Some Shop Rite's carry it, I tend to order mine online from soap.com so I can get a few at a time.

  • I've had a reaction to Tide in the past. My dd has moderately sensitive skin and had a horrible reaction to Tide when we tried it with her diapers. If you and your LO have a sensitivity to detergents, that is one I would not try.

  • I have always had a reaction to the scent in Tide...like itchy nose and face with runny nose.  I used Tide to battle ammonia and it gave DD a contact rash.  I really wanted it to work as a cheap and easy cleaning option, but it was a fail.

  • Any suggestions for detergents we can buy in a regular store like Walmart, Target, etc.?
