ammonia Smell..HELP

I cloth diapered my daughter , she is now  almost potty trained. we are expecting in May and I want to make sure I have all my diapers in order. I have some bum genius and 18 fuzzibunz. My problem is that when I use the diapers They have a really strong ammonia smell, I have an HE machine and use rockin green detergent. I have never stripped the diapers because I am unsure how to. Any advice would be Great!!

i suggest washing in RLR with several rinses, and quitting RnG.

I've always used charlie's soap and never had an issue with smell.  They recommend running a scoop through with no clothes to get residue out of the washer then wash the diapers - I've never done this but might be worth a shot for you.

Can you increase the temperature of your water? I did that and it helped. I think I wasn't killing the bacteria fully.

Do you have hard water? We have really hard water and so I also needed a bit more detergent, I think I was being too conservative.
