I'm just wondering if there is anything that you never did that you were "supposed" to do for your baby? I got to thinking this week that I never had a changing table for her (I used her crib or the floor) or high chair. I never gave her baby food (always table food). I also have never left her overnight yet, which I thought I would have done by now. I've gotten a few surprised looks about a few things, and I'm sure there are other moms who didn't follow all of the rules. Let's hear 'em.
Re: what did you never do?
I moved DS to his room in his crib when he was about 2 weeks old. Almost everyone I know keeps their LO in their room for a good while.
I did straight DS out on baby food but quickly changed once I read more about BLW. I got some strange looks out in public with him chowing down on table food!
I'm sure there's plenty more but I'm too tired to think.
Don't feel bad about not leaving her yet.. I have left DS once overnight and that was when he was two weeks old. Now I don't think I could do it
I have not left him overnight yet. This might be an issue since we are planning to go to Vegas for our anniversary in Feb.
I have not let him feed himself with a spoon, he only uses his hands.
I never let him sleep in our bed more than a couple hours.
Might be more....
I have yet to leave DS overnight, but there are not many people I would trust. This is going to be difficult when I have the baby. Hopefully the baby will wait until my mom comes so she can stay with DS. Truthfully any anxiety I have about a new baby is how DS will react or how it will affect him.
My few other things are not what I never do, but more what I still do. I still let DS use a pacifier and don't plan on weaning that until 18-20 months old.
DS still takes a bottle for his milk 3 times a day. He finally takes his sippy pretty well, so I think we might start putting his lunch milk in a sippy in the next few weeks.
I've never spent a night away from DS, either.
I haven't finished updating his baby book yet. I think it's only filled out up to 3 or 4 months old.
Baby Boy #2 is on the way!
Never bought a changing table either. We use a dresser now with with a changing pad, but before that we used a pnp with a changer attachment (so, maybe that does count?).
I never bought a wipes warmer, despite multiple friends telling me that it was a necessity.
We never bought an exercauser or jumparoo. That being said, a mom friend loaned us her exersaucer a couple of months ago. DD likes to criuse around the outside of it now. I would not have bought either if we weren't loaned one.
Baby Turtle - November 2014
I never bought a baby book to write down all of those milestones. But in my defense I blog and mark it on my phone calendar.
That's all I can think of right now!
We never did "sleep training". Ds still wakes 2 or more times a night, but I can't bring myself to let my baby CIO.
We never bought baby towels and washcloths. I don't really get it, a regular towel is better, it's big and dries them off really fast.
As for leaving him, well, we have no family anywhere near us, so I have only left him once, for two hours, with a friend. My parents come in 2.5 weeks and we will get our first date night in over a year! I am excited.

Wow Gee where to begin...
No changing table, no sitter ever!, no baby food from a jar, no formula, no nursery at church (my other children always came home sick) and no Santa pictures.
