Tater tots?

Not how to cook them, but how are they made into tots?

the exhubs is asking. Pretty and I are trying to get him to go to the market for me to get some. He wants the answer first.

HELP.

    They chop up the taters, smoosh 'em together through an extruder, and quick fry them.

    I think that this was on unwrapped once...they take the potato mash (not sure that is what they call it) and pump it through tubes that cut it into the little tots, they are then fried for a short time to keep the shape and partially cook them. They they flash freeze them and package them. :)

    How do they stick together in the fryer?? Wouldnt the break apart? How long are they fried for?

    EXCELLENT. Now. i gotta get him to go! I have awful heartburn since yesterday and all ive been able to eat is ohs cereal and toast. I want tater tots!!!

    The tube they push them through makes them stick together (it applies pressure).  Then they drop very quickly into the oil, and fry for just a minute or so - maybe less don't remember - before being sent up to freeze.
