January 2012 Moms

How much formula/BM is your LO drinking?

I asked this about 2 months ago, but I'm curious to see where the babies are at now that they are getting older.

DD takes about 20oz of formula on average. Sometimes less, like 16-18, sometimes more, like 24.

I know it decreases as they eat more food (she eats a lot of table food), but I just wondered what other babies were drinking.

  • We're around 20-21 oz, but I was surprised that our doctor said we should be getting down to around 15 oz as she continues to eat more solids.  She is eating aobut 3 cups of solids a day (3 meals), and I try to be sure she gets a fatty snack (she's also on the smaller side, 29% for weight).

  • DS gets 22 oz of formula a day on average. Sometimes he may get a few ounces more and sometimes a little less. He eats two meals of baby food a day and some finger foods too. I'll probably be increasing his meals to three a day soon since he's 9 months old now so I'm sure his formula intake will change again soon.

DS also drinks a few ounces of water from his sippy cup a day now too.

  • Mine is between 12 & 14 ounces.  By this point since she's 9 1/2 months I don't worry about it.  She eats food and drinks what she needs.  I'm also starting to introduce whole milk and mix it in with her formula so by the new year she will probably be strictly on whole milk.

  • My DD gets 11oz of BM at daycare and nurses 3 more times at home.  She also gets 3 full meals a day plus one snack.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • DD drinks around 15 ounces of BM at daycare, sometimes she'll have an occasional 20 ounce day. This is in addition to 3 nursing sessions. She's on a mix of stage 2 and 3 purees, with cereals and some cherios and puffs. She just started self feeding with the puffs this weekend. This past week she would eat my onion pop cakes because she could hold and still get them in her mouth.

She gets 2 meals at dc, and most nights diner at home.

  • DD drinks around 28 oz of formula a day.  She also eats 3 meals a day, plus a snack or two.  We also let her have a sippy of water throughout the day.  She's a little pig :)
  • Per our pedi she should be taking about 20 Oz. Most of the time she's right around there, but some days she maxes out at about 14Oz. When she's teething she hardly wants any formula at all. So your LO is right on track!

  • DD takes about 30oz of formula.  We are going to add a third meal, so hopefully that will decrease.  She has no interest in "solids", only purees.

  • A is 10 months -

she nurses in the AM with me
Then is at DC from 8-630pm and she takes 15-20 ozs
Home at 630 she nurses when I get home and then at bed time

So total I'm gonna guess about 25-30ozs a day - she only gets milk for the time being - occassionally at night she will have a little of what I am eating but not enough to make a real meal out of it.

ETA - After posting this I realized that Ana isn't on the growth charts at all now so I don't think you can really compare her to most babies...
