Flu?

I'm so confused! I have body chills, fever no higher than 100.6 at this point, headaches and body aches. If I take ibprofin, it helps, but takes forever to kick in.

I called my doctors office and they said that if I don't have angry red lines or blotches on my breast, it most likely is bout mastitis. They duo offer antibiotics just in case, but I declined, since it most likely would not cure the flu.

Am I wrong? It is so hard to take care of my lo... I'm currently bundled and feeding.

She just went through a growth spurt, so could it just be engorged breast?

I need advise from veteran mammas!

Re: Flu?

  • Do you have any pain in your breasts? Mastitis does mimic the flu. It's usually caused by a clogged milk duct that gets infected. You can usually feel a painful lump in the infected breast. If caught early, sometimes antibiotics aren't needed, but if you have a fever, and pain in one of your breasts, I'd take the antibiotics. If mastitis goes untreated, it can lead to a breast abscess.
