How long are you planning on bf? DD is down to one nursing session which is right before bedtime. She has always nursed to sleep. Two out of the past three nights she's nursed but never would go to sleep. We put her in her crib and she will go to sleep. I'm wondering if she's starting to wean. It makes me sad thinking about this stage ending. Tonight she didn't even fuss when I put her down to sleep. My girl is getting so big. ((Insert crying face here))
Re: BF come in
Today was my first day not BFing in the morning, but we still do before bed. I am thinking we will be done in the next few months. Although, I have no problem going with one session until B decides he is done. We stopped the morning feeding because he stopped being interested.
B puts himself to sleep everynight, and has for months now, but we still haven't dropped the evening feeding. For us it didn't lead to weaning, but every baby is different.
i just dropped the morning feeding about two weeks ago. Maybe she will still want to nurse before bed time, just not to sleep.
we still bf....a lot more than once a day. she's probably NOT weaning. She is likely just too stimulated by being with you and she wants to go to sleep on her own. My DD stopped bedsharing around 9 months. I would have kept it up for much longer but she just decided it wasn't working for her and she wanted to be alone. She also hasn't nursed to sleep for months and I don't see her weaning anytime soon.
It's great that she's putting herself down! yay!
We're closer to Alicia. I'm breastfeeding in the morning and at night and don't see weaning in the near future. Right now he's just too into it. When I first started I figured I'd wean at a year, but he just doesn't seem ready and since flu season is upon us, I figured it can't hurt to keep going a bit longer.

This exactly. We also bf once in the afternoon. I try to distract her away with her cup of milk, but she's just not having it. although I'm ready, she is not. I would rather ensure she gets a good amount of milk in a day rather than wean.
We still nurse upon waking (around 5:30am), when I get home from work (around 5:30pm) and at bedtime (around 8pm). He used to nurse to sleep and sleep on me for awhile before I put him to bed, but now he's not falling asleep. I miss the cuddle time with my zonked out baby at night.
Not sure when we'll be done, but I'm starting to feel like our sessions don't last as long. Whether supply is dropping or he is losing interest, I don't know. It seems like it will work itself out gradually and naturally, so I'm not worried yet.
This is pretty much us. I do BF before bed, but then MH puts DD down for bed, so we're not BFing to sleep anymore. The only session I think DD would really fight dropping is the morning one. She nurses really well then.
We are at 4x a day; when he wakes, noon, between 4-5, and bedtime. The next one I plan to drop is the late afternoon one. He does drink wcm now, but shows no signs of wanting to wean. Like blu said, with cold and flu season coming, I am more than happy to continue. Bf'ing has been great for us, he goes to daycare 4 days a week and has only been sick once!
We are at three sessions a day. They are short. I am giving him "milk" formula in our case also but he is emotionally attached to nursing. I am okay with it for now...I would like to be done around Christmas so I can have a few months to myself before TTC in the spring.
