DH & I are both due for new phones. I really don't want to spend more than $50. Right now I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy SII for $49, Sony Xperia for free, or the I phone 4 for 99cents. Which one would you choose? Or, would you choose something else? We have AT&T if that makes any difference.
Re: Talk to me about Phones
I currently have the Galaxy S. I wanted the SIII, but it's $100 and I just don't want to spend that much on a phone. I have been kind of anti iPhone, but was feeling the "cool kid" pressure when DH said it was only 99 cents.
I'm kind of intruigued by the Sony Xperia because it has the 12 megapixel camera. I end up using my phone as a camaera quite a bit. Not to mention the free part.

Good to know.
Are there any big differences between the SII & the SIII?

I've had issues with the so called "beautiful" ones too. Do you know how many angry customers I got in a given day that had issues with their phones completely freezing and crashing when trying to do an update? Tons. These were Galaxy phones too. Not just pootacular Optimus phones. Android issues were more common than Blackberry issues. Which is sad. This is just from a customer service reps perspective. I don't like the open platform or the software issues I've seen on them.
My iPhone has had all of zero software or hardware issues. Minus me being a clutz and smashing the screen. Which Apple replaced for free. Didn't even have to go through my phone insurance.
You know this is just like the age old battle right? The whole Mac vs PC thing. Same dif only it's Android and not Windows. I also was not trying to come off like a bish.
I worked corporate liable for a major cell phone company. I worked with a lot of smartphones. Yes, there are some Android phones I could learn to deal with. However, for me personally I have had way too many people calling in with tons of software issues. I was stating a fact, from experience. Call me a fanboy all you want. It's not true in any way. The only Apple products I own are my phone and DD's iPod. So I'm not over here sitting on my birthing ball salivating in pajamas with the Apple logo all over them. I was just stating my opinion. There is no "superior" phone. They all have their downsides. The downsides for Android based phones is the lack of consistent quality and software issues. The downside for iPhones is that they are easily breakable and, well, it's Apple nuf said.
Skipping the quote tree.
It is totally different around here. I haven't heard one person complain about any of the Galaxy phones but people are whining about their iphones all the time.
DH sells phones and he actually bought me this one because it was awesome and an awesome deal at the time. If my phone breaks I can get a loaner phone and repairs can be worked on in store. If an iphone breaks I have to send it to apple and wait for them to send it back, even if you haven't left the store yet and the phone was busted in the box. Apple is more of a PITA in general to deal with from his point of view.
The phone was $100 and they gave $100 credit on my bill. Then the phone dropped to zero dollars the next week so DH managed to get a refund on the payment but kept the credit on my bill
I feel ya. The company I worked for was really crappy anyways. I would never get a phone through them myself. I also have pretty amazing luck with my Apple products. Like I dropped my iPhone onto concrete and shattered the screen. I took it to the Apple store and they exchanged it right there for free. Never got that kind of service with my other phones. I dunno. Maybe Android is getting better. It wasn't that awesome when I worked in the cell phone industry. Then again, I quit that job just after the Galaxy S came out. Some maybe the S2 and S3 are better. Who knows.
