Toddlers: 24 Months+

Update on intervening (getting crazy again)

Okay so things on the food front are now better. (thank god). But now we have new problems to tackle. Number one, she comes everyday smelling AWFUL, literally like she hasn't been bathed in days. When I change her diaper its 1,000x worse. Number two, her parents are completely taking advantage of my generosity. Her mom called last week and said she would be about 15 minutes late because there was an issue at work. This girl is my last one of the day so she is picked up at 515. 530 wasn't a big deal because I didn't have anything to do, but it's still cutting into my making dinner time. It was once so whatever. Monday-Wednesday of this week I was closed because the hurricane and yesterday was her first day back. Her mom doesn't pick her up until 6:10! She walked in the door like all was well and she did nothing wrong. We were suppose to be at my parents for dinner at 6 and I had called her multiple times to figure out her ETA. Today she tells me that her DH doesn't have work because there's no power. This was at 8:45 this morning. Her DH calls me and says I'll be there by 9:45 to get her. It's now 3:30 and she is still napping with the other kids. I just texted him and asked where he was because I was trying to figure my plans out for tonight and he says he "got stuck picking his check up" and probably won't be there til about 6. Okay, this is not okay. I explained to him that I have friends coming over at 630 and I needed to run to the grocery store first and his response is "we will work something out, I'll try to be there by 530." THE TIME IS 515, THAT IS THE TIME THAT I AM PAID TO WATCH YOUR CHILD UNTIL. I'm literally so frustrated, I called the girls grandmother (her emergency contact and the one that makes her food) and told her I needed to set up a time to speak with her. I really don't think these parents are competent, capable or responsible. If grandma can't get through then I am calling CPS and terminating care.

  • This is the little girl who was sent with one yogurt to eat all day? It sounds like a really difficult situation. I know in our daycare centers, we were charged 1/minute for every minute past closing time. It's completely not fair to you to have to keep her late and miss your prior scheduled obligations. I absolutely agree that I'd terminate care if they keep leaving her late like this. Hopefully you'll be able to get things resolved talking to grandma.

Yup, same girl! Her parents picked her up Friday and gave their two weeks notice. They said "I'm not accommodating enough for them and they feel as they are being told how to parent." I feel bad for the girl, god only knows what's going to happen to her. =(

  • Now that you have nothing to lose, you should call childrens services and tell them some of the stuff you have posted on here.

  • We've just had our training with CPS and had a CPS person at our school to talk with us.  Nothing you've posted sounds like something they will be able to pursue but there is absolutely no reason not to call.  The parents won't even know unless CPS determines that there is a reason to take it to the interview level or further.

DH said the same thing. I think I'm going too, even if it turns out that they think its nothing, I'd feel better.
