12 weeks?

My friend is only 12 weeks pregnant and she just found out the sex of the baby and it is a boy.  I was told all the parts are not fully formed until 20 weeks.  I didn't even think they looked at that until 20 weeks.  It kind of boggles my mind.  Anyone go in at 12 weeks and they told you what the sex of the baby was?

Hmmm I was told anything before 16 weeks is a lucky guess, I would be unsure of a told sex until farther along but thats just me.

She posted pictures on Facebook, if it were for me, I wouldn't have posted pictures this early, I would have waited until 20 weeks....

I had my apt yesterday and I'm 13 weeks and the tech said that there was no way to be sure because that early it looks the same.  She said sometimes you can tell at 16 weeks, but at 20 weeks everything is more developed.  Still if the baby isn't cooperating it may still be difficult to tell.

I found out at 13 weeks because I had the MaterniT21 test done.  Unless she had some sort of genetic test done like that or an amnio, it would be impossible to tell that early through an ultrasound because the "parts" are not even formed yet that early.  I had my NT scan around that time and the baby did not even have fingers or toes yet that I could see on the u/s.

I had my first ultrasound yesterday. We were talking about the gender and she had a bottom shot so she said she guessed it will be a girl. She said she was 75% sure. I am not holding my breath and we will wait to see at the 20 week ultrasound.

We had our NT scan at 13 weeks and our tech was able to guess boy based on the "angle of the dangle" theory. She said that at 13 weeks she has only been wrong twice and has been doing NT scans for a long time so she was pretty confident with her prediction. Sure enough at our 20 week scan our Dr confirmed it. I also have had several friends who have found out at 13 weeks what they were having, so I think depending on the tech it is possible.
