To POAS or not to POAS

I don't know what to do ladies! I held out last time and was beyond crushed to get the BFN call. I never want to feel that way again! I'm torn on if I want to POAS this time or not. If I do, I'm not going to do it until the day before beta as I don't want to risk the trigger still being in my system and I haven't been testing it out. Part of me feels like the blow will be less if I get a BFN at home first but then the other part of me thinks that will just make me depressed all day leading up to the beta.

What do you think? What are you ladies planning on doing and why?

For my first cycle DH didn't want me POAS so I didn't. This cycle I told DH that I was POAS and I have been much calmer about this cycle. I have always been against POAS since I have seen how crazy it has made ladies here. I think I am just a weirdo because peeing on one stick a day calms me.

We were just talking about this at dinner tonite.  I have a bunch of cheapo tests, so I'll probably pee out my trigger and POAS before beta as well.  I'm like you - don't want the BFN phone call w/o advanced notice.  I'm so scared this won't work :-(

On wednesday (FET was Friday) I injected .5mL Novarel which is what I've always used for my trigger shot in fresh cycles. Then I also injected .1mL two more times, the day after and yesterday. I just assumed that would mean I had trigger in my system, no?

yup, novarel is HCG. Just a little unusual with an FET but I know others have done it with the theory that it helps implantation.

I've discovered that I would rather know (or at least have an inkling) before the call - depends to on where you might be when you get call.  I'm invariably at work, so I'd rather know beforehand...and if it's a late implanter, then what a great surprise! :)  GL!

I tested out my trigger and POAS because of my symptoms were like none I have ever had before. I wanted to know before getting that phone call. I felt like I would be all psyched up and then possibly be absolutely defeated if the call was a BFN. So I wanted to be prepared.

I did a Lupron trigger, but they still gave me an HCG shot during ER and the doctor said it "helped with lining". I have been testing, though. I think it softens the blow of the call, which for me would happen at work. I don't want to be crying at work!

I think everyone knows where I stand on this, but it really comes down to personal preference and what you can handle.  I knew when I POAS yesterday if it was negative that would not crush me.  But some people....it would.  Alternatively, while I am thrilled right now, I am totally taking this one day at a time until I have some beta numbers.  I can separate myself from it a little bit.  Some people can't though.  So, I think if the reaction will ruin you until beta, or give you false hope.....just wait.  Personally, I would feel much worse getting the call at work and not having some idea of what was up beforehand.

I agree that it really depends on what you're like personality-wise.

I need some control over the process so I would be a mess if I had to wait for the clinic to call with my results with no idea of what was going on. I know there are early positives and negatives that reverse themselves with IVF, but I want a hint which way things are going.

Also, I cannot imagine getting a BFN phone call at work with no warning. If a coworker said something that ticked me off after that, I could very well end up karate-chopping them in the face.

I'm a POAS fan, I like to know or have an idea of what's going on. My last beta call was when I was at breakfast, if I didn't know the results I would've been a mess.

    I was a POAS girl.

    I'm with you.

The not-testing-ahead-of-time method leads to emotional phone calls and disappointment that kind of punches you in the gut.

For me, POAS ahead of time {okay, so I peed on LOTS of sticks ahead of time} kind of prepared me for disappointment.

On the other hand, I totally mind-f%#$d myself by telling myself:

"Well, it's negative because I drank a lot of water..."

"Well, it's negative because it's just too soon to test."

"Well, it's negative because I didn't say my morning prayer."

"Did I really hold it at the right angle? I bet I didn't."

See? I can justify just about any negative pregnancy test.

But in reality, it made the phone calls from the nurse easier to hear.
