A good friend's son was born yesterday with transposition of the great vessels. He is having open heart surgery this week.

I know I'm not a doctor and I can't offer anything but support. I'd like to have a better understand of what she's going through so that I can be there for her.

What is up ahead for her? What advice can you give me to help her? Once he's home, will he need anything special?
