Standing in crib

Anyone elses LO doing this now and having a hard time getting to sleep? If DD is really tried she will just go to sleep. But if not, she gets up and stands at the crib railing and I have a heck of a time getting her to lie back down and go to sleep/nap. I just keep telling myself its a phase that will pass like all the other new behaviors (rolling, etc).

This is the first time I wish we had a video monitor so I could see if her crying is because she's standing and can't get down or if I should just let her fall asleep.

Re: Standing in crib

  • I'm sorry, but yes its just a phase and until she learns to sit after standing this will be happening most likely. Lots of practice during the day seems to help, with any new milestone. Yay for standing already!

  • I put her in a sleep sack so she has a hard time getting to her feet! But I still find her sitting up in the crib and trying to stand which seems worse because she repeatedly bonks her head in her efforts.

  • Am I the only person who doesn't let DS sit in his crib because I'm afraid he will hit his head on the wood? Jeez I never knew how paranoid I was?

Hmm, I'm confused. How do you keep him from sitting?

A lot of babies can't get to the sitting position on their own yet.

My daughter stands up in her crib pretty much every time she's put in there. If I don't pull her out of the crib she'll eventually fall over.

But who puts their baby in a crib IN a sitting position though? is this a thing people do?

Or maybe amanda meant that she doesn't let him sit in there, as in, she goes to get him immediately as soon as he makes a peep in case hanging out in there awake, he'll hit his head?

Matilda hits her head repeatedly on things all day long. I really think it's unavoidable at this stage. Nature has given them very resilient heads though, I'm sure for this very reason.

  • Wow, Kai's nowhere near getting to a standing position on his own! One time he tried to pull himself up on the edge of the couch, but that didn't go well. One more thing to look forward to, ha ha.
