Working part time? Mom of 4?

A am a soon to be mom of 4 and will be working 4 days a week about 3 hours a day.  (I am an OT).  Just wondering if anyone has a similar schedule or even works more with 4 or more?  How do you like it?  (Sorry if this board is just for ft working mommies!) Thanks in advance!

  • I think that schedule would be perfect! Get out of the house and have some adult time, but plenty of time to still try to keep things somewhat under control at home.

  • I think that sounds perfect! I want to have a third child, and if we do, I will go down from work 40 hours per week to no more than 20.

  • I work full-time and within a few weeks will be the mother of four.  I like my job and I like working.  Sometimes I wish I could have an extra day off here or there but I really think a full part-time schedule may just throw me off.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • What is a OT ? But I like the schedule especially if your making ends meet
  • I work 1/2 days - just til about noon or so.  I do 5 days/week with just 1 kid.  I adore that schedule. Adore, adore, adore!

I blog for thebump and wrote about it here: https://blog.thebump.com/2012/09/28/why-i-work-part-time/

I assumed Occupational Therapist.  But it could be an Obvious Tyrant.  Or maybe an Octogonal Trainer.

  • LOL yes OT means occupational therapist!  Thank you all for your encouraging words!!  I appreciate it!

  • Working part time with those hours and four kids? Easy Peasy! I'd do it. I'm 8 to 5, still here to tell the tale. I think mammabear is in the same situation as I am, 5 and full time. Go for it!
  • I have 5 and work FT... I would die to work 4 days a week 3 hours a day (as long as I could make enough money)!  Congrats on #4!
