Sometimes DS does this because he tends to "go" while eating. Have you noticed dirty diapers after a meal? It could be poo grunts LOL.

my DS does this sometimes when he's impatient because the food isn't coming fast enough!

Agree with PP. DD tends to "go" when she eats. Especially when she is sitting in the highchair. DD1 was the same way.
