Sick Toddler Questions...

Sorry guys, FTM stupid questions tonight. Bear with me...

First off, have any of your kids had tonsillitis as toddlers? I'm asking because my kid and H are sick. I am not; I don't have my tonsils, so this is paranoid deductive reasoning. 

Secondly, we've been to the pedi (two weeks ago) and it's just a cold, however, it came back full force on Sunday. She thinks it might be allergies, but the cough/snot make me think it's something else. My H thinks I'm crazy, but I tend to trust my instincts over his.

Lastly, the pedi recommended to use a children's allergy medicine. I am not sure how or what to use, but if you guys could tell me what you use to help "dry" my kiddo out, that'd be awesome. I've been snot sucking (he's really good about it)  and I don't want this to turn into an ear infection with all the crazy azz drainage. 

Sorry for the tl;dr. I thought I'd ask you lovely girls before I call and freak out on the doc. Thanks, my sweets!

The allergist I spoke to said children's Claritin seemed to be better than children's Benadryl. Follow the dosage on the box. I hope kiddo feels better soon.

We had been using Benadryl to no avail. Our pedi told us to use a half tsp of Zyrtec and it worked the first night.

We use the generic Zyrtec 3/4 t for allergies daily (cough and snot). Yes, my kid has tonsillitis and will probably need tonsils out early next yr. We are on a wait and see basis.
