Teething? or Sick? or Just Grumpy?

DS woke up happy enough this morning, but our day seemed to deteriorate after about 10:30. He didn't nap well (which is his norm), and he was even fussier than usual. Around 2:00 my mom called, and DS (who was in my arms just quietly looking around) burst out of nowhere with a bloody murder scream that even startled Mom. I quickly got off the phone and was starting to give him some Tylenol when he started coughing, gagged, and spit up all over me. (This was about 2 hours after his last bottle.) After that, he seemed happier, so I didn't give him the medicine. Unfortunately, by 4:00 (after a bottle and a piece of a nap) he was screaming again. It's not exactly his "just got a shot scream" but it's worse than his "I'm tired" scream. It's kind of an angry and hurt scream. I finally gave him some Tylenol at 4:15, and he fell asleep in my arms around 4:20. He slept for almost an hour, crying out from time to time and waking up a little bit when he cried. After his 5:00 bottle, he seemed happier, but now he's screaming again. He's due for another bottle around 8:00. (He had cereal after his 5:00 bottle, so if I feed him any sooner he'll just get a bellyache.)

So my question is this, do you think he is teething, sick, or just feeling the funk? FWIW he also has had red cheeks for the past two days, but he is not in daycare and his temp is only slightly elevated, so I don't really think it's fifth's disease. He's been having good BM's, and I haven't noticed him squirming like he does when he's gassy. He's drooling a lot and eating his fingers, but that is his norm. I'm kind of at a loss and not sure whether to give him another dose of Tylenol at 8:15.
