I made some today and I know there are a ton of different options on making it. I looked back and my recipes that my mom gave me when I moved out and I don't make it that way anymore b/c I've adapted my own and I love it!
I use a packet of Taco Seasoning and a Ranch packet while browning my meat. Then put a can of Ranch Style beans, Black beans, Kidney beans, Rotel and corn.
Then we eat it with fritos and cheese on top.
Re: What do you put in your Taco Soup?
Pretty much that but without the ranch style or kidney beans.
I also don't use Fritos but I do use sour cream on top.
My mom use to put a can of Minestrone soup with meat and call it a day. YUCK!!! Pasta and green beans should never go in TACO soup.
Eww. Definitely not in taco soup.
This is genius! I always just dump the packets in with the liquid ingredients and have never thought to do it with the meat - I bet it makes a big difference flavor wise.
I use to not do it that way...I did like you...dump and heat. But the last few times I put the packets in while brownin the meat and it made a HUGE difference and we've never had leftovers for the following day. So, thats a plus and a negative. I love re-heated chili and taco soup.
