I know that once they are a bit older they can nurse more efficiently and quickly, but it just seems so quick! He may nurse for 5 minutes on one side, and then 5 on the other. I try to keep him on longer, but he's just so distracted, and I feel like I'm constantly re-latching him. He seems fine for 3ish hours, sometimes less before he's hungry again. I guess he's fine, right? Is it possible for an older baby to empty the breast in 5 minutes??
Re: How long does your 5ish month old nurse for?
My LO takes no more than 5-6 mins and that is only on one side. She normally feeds 4-5 and seems full to me. The reason for the 5-6 min is because she likes to latch and unlatch if she hears someone talking or the dog hops on the couch.
So I think your LO is doing just fine. I think they are more efficient at filling up faster.
