Wet back

My little guy has been waking up with a wet back during the night.  We use pockets at night, usually BG 4.0s.  I've gone up a rise, no help.  I added an extra insert, still leaked.  I'm not sure if he needs to switch to fitteds at night now, or if I need to strip my diapers (never have, no idea how), or if it's another issue I don't know about.  Has anyone had this problem and can help me out?

Is the insert completely saturated when you go to get your son? If it is you might want to try a fitted diaper, they're just so much more absorbent.

If the inserts are not saturated, you might have a build up or repelling issue, so a strip might be a good idea. Some people strip with Blue Dawn, I prefer RLR.

Ditto PP, plus are you sure you are getting the waist tight enough? You could also try adding a small insert at the top/back of the diaper to catch leaks.

The waist is definitely tight enough.  It was weird, b/c in the diaper he leaked out of last night, the front of the insert was saturated, but the back didn't really feel wet!  I was confused by that...

this is a silly question, and I have a girl, but are you pointing his penis down? (i think that's correct?) it seems like that would soak the front, but if he's laying on his back it's possible the pee is soaking up around the top so it wicks around to his back bc of gravity?
