*thetheisens*

Hey!  Just saw your post below about tubes... We're headed to the ENT next Tuesday to discuss tubes for CK.  We've had a heck of a time with ear infections and trying different antibiotics... I have mixed emotions about her getting tubes, but am ready for a healthy, happy baby.  Obviously my super boob juice didn't work, either!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know we're in a similar boat.  GL with the allergy meds!

BFP#1 1/31/11 ~ CK came on her due date, 10/10/11!
BFP#2 11/20/12, EDD 7/30/13 ~ heard heartbeat at 6w2d ~ mmc discovered at 8w
1st medicated cycle ~ 6/11/13 ~ Clomid ~ BFN
2nd medicated cycle ~ 7/12/13 ~ Clomid and trigger shot ~ BFN
SHG on 8/13/13 ~ uterus looked good!
Diagnosed with DOR on 8/16/13 ~ AMH 0.27 ~ repeat AMH 0.19
3rd medicated cycle ~ 8/9/13 ~ Femara and trigger shot ~ BFN
4th medicated cycle ~ 9/4/13 ~ Bravelle, trigger shot, IUI ~ BFP! ~ EDD: 6/11/14 ~ heartbeat of 118 at 6w3d ~ mmc discovered at 9w1d

  • Sorry, I was working today and didn't have a lot of time for bumping! I understand about the mixed emotions. I hope everything goes well for CK, it sounds like recovery is pretty smooth. He is really miserable right now. He has never gone to the dr without having an ear infection. I think we will probably have to get them, but I am holding out a little hope for the allergy medicine.

  • I'm going to be *that* mom. Have either of you tried chiropractic? I've got a friend who's son had multiple ear infections, and after a few trips to the chiropractor he didn't have them any more and they were able to avoid tubes. Just a suggestion if you wanted to avoid tubes.

    I've been told this too. We struggled a lot with ear infections last year, but we haven't had any issues yet this year.  I am sure it partly has to do with the fact I'm SAHM now, and she was in daycare when she acquired them in her first 6 months.  My doctor told me he doesn't consider tubes based on the amount of occurances, rather, the severity of each.  We didn't have any severe ones last year, so even though she had 4 of them in 6 months, he wasn't concerned about tubes yet.  I hope both of your LO's can get through it- it's tough for parents and babies );

  • Two different pedis(on different occasions) have said that ds's ear drums look horrible, even on the side at the time that didn't have an infection. He has a constant build up of fluid do to his allergies. Even the pedi who said he hardly ever prescribed antibiotics for ear infections because they normally clear up on their own and he doesn't like to over prescribe antibiotics ended up prescribing them for him because they looked so bad. Thanks for the suggestion, but I feel very strongly against chiropractors giving medical advice that they are not qualified to give. I really don't want his hearing and speech to be affected and want to be proactive. We will see if the allergy medicine helps to get rib of the fluid before deciding on tubes.

    Understandable, I don't have any experience with chiropractors for this purpose first hand, but had heard that it worked for some others so thought I'd put it out there. We were given the reccomendation to take layla to the chiro for her reflux issues, and were given a crock of poo, but I swear by him for my hip issues.  I've heard good and bad things about chiropractors for kids.  We just took layla for a consult and never went back.

  • Yes, the chiro did wonders on my hips too. I think they are great for many things, but I do not consider them a cure all.
