Recommend inexpensive foundations/tinted moisturizers

We don't have tons of money right now, and I'm just not sure I can justify spending $40 on an ounce of Smashbox foundation. Are there any good ones out there that aren't so expensive?

I'll pamper myself again once we sell our house. :)

  • I'm really liking my Cover Girl Tru Blend. Nice even coverage, doesn't look like makeup, and definitely doesn't cost $40 an ounce.

  • I just use Neutrogena oil-free tinted moisturizer and Clinique foundation (also oil free...clarifying maybe).  I'm one of those lucky ones that still breaks-out if I use a lot of stuff with oil in it...despite being almost 30!

  • That's sounding like something I might like. I don't want to look like I'm wearing a mask.

  • Mary Kay has a great tinted moisturizer (with SPF15) for $18 retail.
  • It's not going to be a ton of help, but Merle Norman has a GREAT tinted moisturizer. ?I believe it's 2-3 oz and it lasts FOREVER.?

    It's around $38 though. ??

  • I think my stila tinted moisturizer was in the $20 range.  Right now sephora has friends and family (FF2008) for 20% off and it's free shipping if you spend $50.  Also, ebates is 8% back on sephora.com right now.

Another option if you don't want to spend $50 to get free shipping, I think beauty.com (also on ebates) has free shipping over $25 for first time buyers (just use a new email if you already have an account).

Oh and I have some MAC stuff, called Strobe Liquid, that is with a pump ($29.50) and you can mix it with any foundation to make it more of a tinted moisturizer.  If you have a foundation you like and know the color suits you, that'd be an option as well.

Ok I lied.  My stila tinted moisturizer is $32.

  • I was using MAC Studio Fix for a while, but decided to go back to the cheap route and try Revlon ColorStay.  I like it almost as much, and it's less than half the price!
  • I use Clinique Sheer Tint SPF 15.  It's around $25, I think.

  • I love the covergirl tru blend. The one in the jar, not the pump bottle... they changed the formula in it and I hate it... but apparently the jar is still the old kind. It is just annoying being in the jar... although I feel like I can use every last bit of it!
  • make sure it's oil free if you tend to break out from make up.  that's my only tip. I don't know a thing about store brands.
