Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Recommend your wrap/carrier please :)

I'm expecting #2 in April and I'd like to invest in a good wrap carrier for the little one. With DS we just had one of those regular buckling front carriers, and I made my own sling type carrier.
I don't think I'd like the ones that look like you're all tied up into it. I'm thinking maybe the ring sling (is that right?)

What do you all recommend?

TIA!

Re: Recommend your wrap/carrier please :)

  • I had the Moby. I liked it, DS liked it, and then after a few times, I got sick of dragging all that fabric all over the floor and all the wrapping. So, I bought a K'Tan and it's so, so much better. I love it. Much easier, doesn't drag all over the floor, and is just perfection.

  • We have the Moby Wrap, it does suck that the material drags on the floor, but our LO tolerates it more than any other wrap.

We also have a front carrier and he hates it, we are hoping that as he gets bigger he will adjust to it.

  • I have the Moby and I wrap it around in a way that there's no fabric hanging down or on the floor. I love it and DS2 loves it. I use it around the house when he doesn't want to be put down and when I'm at the store. DS2 falls asleep really quickly once he's in it and as long as you wrap it tight enough, it feels really secure.

I'm not sure how long I'll use it once DS2 gets bigger though. If I start worrying about that, I'll probably invest in an Ergo or something.

  • I like the Moby, but it can be pretty cumbersome trying to put it on when out and about. I love my Mei Tai Baby carrier. I can use it when running errands with the kids, going to the zoo, or wherever. And it gives me two free hands. DD pretty much sleeps the whole time she is in it. What I like about the Mei Tai also is that I can also use it for my 2.5 year old if I wanted to. I can easily put her on my back in it. Great for little baby all they way up through toddler!

  • DS doesn't like the moby, but he's a big boy and my moby shrunk so I think that's the problem. That being said I got a K'tan and I think it's easier to use than the Moby and DS likes it a lot. GL!

  • I have both the Moby and Boba wraps and love them both- the Boba is a little easier to put on because of the stretchy fabric. I also have the beco Gemini and love it but use it for being out and about and the wraps for around my house.

  • I have a borrowed Moby Wrap, which I occasionally use and which was key when DD came home from the hospital as a newborn. I felt it was the only one that held her safely. But, she does not like being so constrained and it is difficult to travel with as I feel the fabric is always getting dirty because in order to put it on, some of the fabric falls to the ground in the wrapping process. So it is becoming more useless these days.

I also have a Slingling Sling which is very good around the house now. DD likes that she can look around or sleep, but I did not feel it worked for her when she was 6lbs--it is a much better fit now that she has some neck strength and is more like 11lbs. It is super simple and I presume I will start using it more and more now that it fits a little better.

Finally, I have a Chicco front carrier that we got used--and it is surprisingly one of the best fits for us. It is the only carrier that she has fallen asleep in, the only one that we will use out and about these days. If the stroller does not work, we do the Chicco front carrier. It is much more simple to put on than the Moby and DH is happy to wear her in it too.

I am having trouble updating tickers--But I am due on April 2015. I have 2 older step children: 9 and 14 yrs and I also recently had 2 younger children: 2 years and 1 year... so this means I will be having 3 under 3--and trying to fit our family of 7 into our minivan--eek!
