Maternity Undies

Not sure if this has already been posted.  I don't stop by the board every day. I would love any help from you lovely ladies.  My regular underwear were finally getting uncomfortable so I just bought the next size up like I'd heard from some people.  Well those were still uncomfortable.  They would keep rolling down in the front, like my tummy was just too big for the undies.  And I'm afraid to go up another size because my bum isn't that big.

Last Friday I finally decided to buy some maternity underwear from Motherhood Maternity.  Same issue with them rolling down in the front.  Maybe it's the style?  I don't know.  But it's driving me crazy.  I am a curvy girl and my hips have gotten wider since I've gotten pregnant, but I can still wear a size L/XL in pants.  So why won't the same size of maternity undies work?

So very frustrated.  Any tips?  I bought hipster undies as well as bikini undies which are what I normally wear.  Should I try briefs?

  • My BFF told me she found preggo underwear to be an expensive waste- threw them out and went and bought cheap-o hanes underwear in bigger sizes until the baby was born.  I did the same thing and find they seem to work fine :)

  • Kind of expensive, but I swear by Hanky Panky low rise lace thongs. They are one size fits all- lots of stretch. They sit low on the belly, insanely comfortable, and no panty lines!

  • I bought hane's bikinis with #1 and love them.... just went out and bought a new package this weekend! They are so soft, below the bump and don't ride!

  • I'm sticking with low-rise thongs.  Hanky Panky are the best, but they are pricey.

I bought some low-rise thongs, and bikini from Thyme Maternity (don't think in US).

But for me the key was to look for low rise, so the underpants sit below my belly.  Then I have all my full panel pants to cover the rest of my belly.

  • I am buying maternity undies THIS WEEK! My csection scar is very unoticable and causes me no issues normally. However, I just cannot stand my regular undies low once my belly gets this size. Everyone is different and many if my friends stick with lowrise. I too tried larger "granny panty" but the waist is still to tight while the legs and back are too big. Its maternity undies for me!

  • I went with the low rise bikinis with #1. I'm getting a little bit bigger with #2 so I might have to go up a size. All my friends said the maternity undies were a waste, so I stuck with the cheapo undies. As a bonus, after birth you won't fee bad throwing out some of the gross ones.
  • Thanks for the advice, ladies!  I only opened one package of the maternity undies.  At least they were on sale.  I might try regular hanes again as they are cheaper.

  • Like previous posts, I have mainly gone the Hanes route.  But I will say that these (https://www.victoriassecret.com/pink/shop-by-style-panties/seamless-boyshort-panty-in-stripes-victorias-secret-pink?ProductID=22891&CatalogueType=OLS) still fit very well.  I wore them all throughout my twin pregnancy and was always comfortable.  They are a comfy spandex fit (originally sold as yoga boyshort panties, I think).

Agree!  I wore these my whole pregnancy last time and they fit fine.  I heard Target has a good knock off that's nice as well but I haven't bought them.

  • I wear the "hipster" style... they have a really low rise, so they sit very comfortably under my ever-growing baby bump.

  • I'm with mal922. I loved thongs pre BFP but now they drive me nuts. I tried Hanes hi cuts in a bigger size, and they look like parachutes and the legs are a little loose, while it provided some comfort but some days the elastic irritates my bump. And to be honest I was so mortified to wear granny panties, and it seemed like a bit much combined with full panel maternity pants.

The most comfortable thing I've found is ironically my pre pregnancy Victorias Secret PINK undies they are low rise hipsters with lace all around the top. The rest is 100 percent cotton, which has always been a must for me. They are SUPER comfy and stretched out nicely, so I haven't had to buy a bigger size yet. the lace trim means no irritation and they stay well below my bump. And they make me still feel sexy which is a big plus these days.
