I only used Pampers with my older DD, Swaddlers until she was too big, then Baby Dry. We had very few leaks in 3 years of diapers. I'd say less than 20 times total, and those were only when she would have really runny poop and it would go up her back.
We started out with Swaddlers again this time, but DH wanted me to try the Huggies because they sell them at Costco (and we loooooove Costco, lol). So I bought one pack of Huggies and tried them last week.
Three leaks, yes, THREE LEAKS, in less than 24 hours. In 3 weeks of using Swaddlers, we haven't had any leaks at all. And one of these leaks was at the Zoo, all over the inside of the stroller bassinet. Luckily it was just pee and it wasn't stinky, but OMG how awful that would have been to have a nasty poop-splosion at the Zoo!
It's not like they are cheap diapers or something? I don't understand why they are so inferior to Pampers, when they are the same price??
Also, now I have an almost full pack of Huggies, I only used about 10 of them. I don't have any close friends due in the next few months, only acquaintances, and I feel tacky giving someone a 3/4 full bag of diapers lol!
We also bought one box of the Kirkland diapers to try out, and I told DH that if we have any leaks at all, I'm only using Pampers from here on out!
Re: Why do Huggies suck so bad?
It depends on the baby...Pampers were awful for DS but the huggies don't fit DD well.
I did not like the cheap huggies, only the more expensive ones that we couldn't buy at Costco.
I have the same problem with Huggies. I got them as
part of a shower gift with DS1 and ended up throwing
them away they were so bad. I'll never buy them after
that. Swaddlers are the best!
I meant to quote Pumpkin's post.
Please check into donating them to a shelter, community diaper bank, etc verses tossing them.
Oh yeah, I won't just throw them away, I'll find someone who needs them for sure!
This!! We used Pampers Swaddlers with DD and loved them. However, when she moved out of swaddlers into the regular ones we hated them and switched to huggies and loved those. It really all depends on LO.
Ha it's funny you wrote this today. I could have written the same post. We started with Swaddlers for DS1. We had a few samples of Luvs and Huggies but had leaks, so we just stuck with Pampers Swaddlers and then Baby Dry with him.
With this LO we started with Swaddlers again, but they were making DS2 really red where ever the diaper touched him. We switched to Luvs and were pretty happy other than that they seem to stick to him a little bit. DH wanted to try Huggies to see if they were better. (I read somewhere that Huggies don't have perfumes in them, so we were thinking maybe that's what's making him red.) Anyway, big mistake. We've used half a package and we've had 3 or 4 leaks already. Ugh.
My theory is that Huggies fit chunkier babies better. Luvs/Pampers fit skinnier babies better.
With DD, I started with pampers but she developed a rash. So now we are using the ugly seventh generation diapers...
