Which name do you like better...Gabrielle or Gabriella? Or neither? haha
We don't plan on calling her Gabby, but we realize she may choose this as her NN later in life. If people call her that as a baby, is it okay to correct them?
I love both but I prefer Gabriella. DD is Gabriella and goes by her full name.
One thing I do like about either name is there are several options for nicknames. I'm not particularly fond of Gabby and have had to tell quite a few people that we call her by her full name. If she decides she wants a nickname when she's older I'll probably encourage Elle. However, she may decide she wants to be called Gabby and that's fine, too.
ETA: And yes, you definitely want to correct them and right away. A nickname is never just used by one person. As soon as one person starts using it, others follow.

I prefer Gabrielle, but be prepared for people to call her Gabriella. I've had several students with both names, which would keep me from using the name at all because of it's popularity.
Both are pretty, if I had to pick I'd go with Gabriella, it's a bit more feminine to my ear
I was going to say this exactly. I like Gabriella because it sounds more feminine. It is definitely okay to correct people if they call her Gabby. FWIW I don't like the nn Gabby. I prefer Ella or Brielle/Briella (which ever formal name you choose).

Re: Gabrielle vs. Gabriella
I prefer Gabrielle.
I think babies are more prone to nn-ing by others than older kids and adults are. You will probably have to tell people to call her by her full name.
