I have a 3 year old, but I can't remember when babies typically start babbling. Right now LO is "talking", but she sounds more like a pterodactyl...what are your LOs doing when it comes to "talking?" When do the "da da das" start?
My son loves the sound of his own voice, lol. He doesn't do any definitive sounds like ma ma or da da. But he "talks" and coos and loves to communicate. I try to repeat his sounds back to him and we take turns "talking."
I don't know if you would consider it babbling, but DS is making lots of sounds these days. When we are reading, he likes to "ooh" and "hoo." DH says it sounds like there is an owl in his room. When I'm down in his face playing or changing his diaper, he makes lots of vowel sounds, "boo," and "ah-goo" sounds. Thursday he figured out how to squeal -- very loudly -- down every aisle in Target. It was such an odd combo delight and terror that I was afraid at any moment someone was going to accuse me of pinching him or something. Glad to find out it was actually pterodactyl speak! lol
DD has been very 'verbal', but MOST of her talk is still full of vowels. She'll sometimes say things like 'agoo' or 'aboo', but the bulk of it is more like 'ah haha ah ahee', etc. I think babbling with more consonants is supposed to start anywhere around 5-6 months, from what I've read.
