Pumping and breastfeeding

I am planning on going back to work in the beginning of the year, and would like to not only build a supply of milk in the freezer, but also start to bottle feed my LO breastmilk in a few weeks. Can I breastfeed and pump? If so, when do I pump? After he's fed? Can I feed him on one side and pump the other?

I breastfeed and pump. On the weekends I only breastfeed. On weekdays I pump before I go to bed, in the middle of the night , on the drive to work and during my lunch. During the day he gets bottle fed the milk I had frozen from my stash. Then during the week I breastfeed after work until he goes to sleep. He gets two formula bottles a day, one before bed and one in the middle of the night. Those two times I pump so continue my stash build.

I go back to work in January, so I've started building a small stash.  I breastfeed after the first morning feed, because typically my supply is highest in the morning. I freeze 90% of those morning pumps, the others LO gets in a bottle when I'm away.  A few times in the evening, if I have to go out, DH will give the baby a bottle of pumped milk.  On those occasions, I also pump as soon as I get home to keep my supply up. 

I say pick one time a day to consistently pump for your stash.  The morning is typically when you have the most milk.

I pump and bf because I have an oversupply and am soon returning to work. I chose specific times a day to pump, give or take an hour depending on how engorged I am. Ds2 is 5 weeks old and has to take 3 bottles of fortified BM a day per the neonatologist and has been getting bottles since about 10 to 14 days old while he was in the NICU. We use dr browns preemie nipples so no issues with nipple preference. With ds1, we introduced a bottle once a day around maybe 2 weeks so I could sleep in and someone else could feed him. Same bottle and nipple. No issues.
