I'm currently registering for my shower and am really looking for a bouncy seat without the bells/whistles/music, etc.  The Bjorn version is exactly what I'm looking for, but why is it so expensive?  If you have one or have tried it out, please give me your opinion/advice.  Thank you!

A friend of mine has it. I think it's expensive just because it's a nice looking modern design, and people are willing to pay for that. Her baby likes it just fine, but she would like a cheap one the same. It's for the parents.

Yeah... I can totally see how it's for the parents with it's design and the price is just plain silly. That said, I really hate the way everything for babies and kids makes noise and music. I was a career nanny and I have many years and a lot of experience helping to raise children.  I just don't think they need all that over-stimulation.  The cheaper models all have vibrators, music, huge noisy toys... if I can find a basic, no-fuss bouncy I'm definitely going to register for/buy it (I've been looking at consignment sales).  If not, I'm going to put this on my registry and see what happens.  Thank you for your advice.  I couldn't agree more regarding who Babybjorn markets to.

but we will be returning it because someone is giving us the Bjorn balance, which I prefer the look of. It's really hard to find one that goes with our contemporary decor. We'll see if baby likes it.

I loved ours.  I actually borrowed one from a friend and used it so much that I bought my own and ended up using one for each floor of our house.  Personally, it was worth every penny for me.

The bjorn bouncer is made in Sweden. That alone is bound to make it more expensive. I use mine quite a bit now with the toy bar, but it did not work as well when lo was a newborn. I think the vibrating cheap bouncy chairs are better for the little guys.

Sure, it's not all fancy and modern-looking, but it serves the same purpose.  The bar across the top with the toys/music is detachable (we usually leave it off, but occasionally use it if LO is fussy and we need to cook/shower/etc).  She's not a fan of the vibrate function, so we just don't use it.  For a savings of $100, I'm okay with just not using the features I don't like

It is nice because it grows with your child with the 3 different setttings.  Also, it's a breeze to take places if you're headed to the in-laws or a friends house and need a seat.  It folds flat and is lightweight.  We registered for it and we weren't disappointed.  I didn't get the toy bar last time and will be getting it this time.  Also- easy to remove the cover and clean.

I've seen it with a much lower price on amazon before- closer to 100 for certain colors.  I would price watch for awhile if you're purchasing yourself or register for it and let someone else buy it for you maybe.
