My breast pump recommedenation if you're interested

A lady on the SAIF board asked about the Lansinoh pump and I gave her my experience with it.  I remember when I was looking for pumps....it was a pain...so I figured I'd let you all know what I liked if you're interested.  Here's my response to her.

I got the Ameda Purely Yours.  It's the same thing as the Lansinoh double electric pump.  I found my Ameda online for less than they sell the lansinoh in stores and you also get a bag to tote it around in.

I loved that pump.  I had a friend who did not breastfeed and she had gotten a Medela PISA for a present.  She gave it to me and honestly....I like the Ameda better!  So, yes its a great pump.

A note on renting.....when I looked into it....it was going to cost me $40 upfront for my own tubing, etc.  Then $40 a month on top of that.  It was WAY more cost effective to just buy the Ameda.  HTH

Oh, and I'm not sure if the lansinoh in stores comes with storage bottles and cold pack but my Ameda did.  You pump into that.  I would suggest buying extra of those storage bottles.  Also, if you don't use those to store it in....you just pump into the bottles and I also loved using the lansinoh storage bags for the freezer.  They warm up so much faster than the bottles do.

It is very easy to clean.  It has less parts to come apart than the Medela does.  Also....its a closed system so you don't have to worry about moisture getting in your tubes and causing mold.

That's where I got mine from.  It says that its $200 but if you use that $25 coupon on the site and don't get any extras (which I didn't use)...its $175 and you get free shipping as well.  As well as a carry all, the bottles, cold pack, etc.  Totally worth it!

Another thing on the Medela PISA vs. the Ameda ..... The Medela stays attached to its bag or carry all and is a pain in the butt to find a place to set it whenever you're pumping.  Also, the Ameda has two knobs on it.  One for suction and one for speed.  The Medela only has one and when you increase speed you also increase suction.  I hated that...I liked choosing exactly what I wanted each to be.

The best part of it all was.....the Ameda is so much cheaper!  I hope that helps anyone who is shopping around.
