International Bumpies

paging pittpurple :)

I hope you do not mind me asking a couple questions about Edinburgh...

DH just found out today of a class he needs to take in Edinburgh the week of November 19th...so DD and I are going to be tagging along (yay)

His class is to be held around Wesport (it looks like city centre not too far from old Edinburgh and Waverly Station.

So questions if you dont mind...We plan on being there for 5 days.  Other than royal mile what do you reccomend doing with a 10 month old during the day? (I really would love to hike King Arthur's seat-but that is the only thing I can think of right now)

Also, if this does not sound too creeperish and you are interested to meet up for coffee, let me know!

BTW- we are having crazy Scottish weather here today...bursts of heavy snowshowers followed by bouts of sunshine. It will take me sometime to get used to this weather...

  • Hiya

absolutely don't mind at all! That's actually my first week of maternity leave so I'll have loads of free time and would love to meet up. Looks like you'll be right in the centre so easy to get anywhere!

im still learning about baby friendly options here, what sort of things do you like to do with LO? Scottish weather is all over the place all the time so I'd have indoor options for your visit.

The Scottish museum reopened recently and they have a lovely children's room that some friends have enjoyed with their kids. All the museums are free so if you want somewhere nice to hang out for an afternoon, they all have nice cafes too.

If you let me know the sorts of things you enjoy doing I'll have a think. Will you want restaurant ideas too?

  • Yay! It will be nice visiting with another American :) and perfect timing with your maternity leave!

As far as things to do, the museum sounds perfect (I am a history nerd, so I love those kind of things) E does well in her stroller too, so we do not mind walking around. Last time I was in Edinburgh was four years ago and it was brief.  We visited Holyrood and the Castle and walked around a bit on the Royal Mile.

If you have restaurant ideas, that would be lovely as well!

Most likely, we will be taking the train down, but if the hotel DH's company is putting us up in offers parking, we might take the car the down...that way we can drive around a bit on the way back to Aberdeen.

DH is also headed back to the States on business next week...if there is anything American you are craving right now, that he is able to take back in his suitcase-let me know! (I am working on a list of things he needs to pick up ;)

    Thanks for the help!

  • I'm PMing you my email address so we can plan something :-) will think about restaurant options too.

you definitely don't need a car in Edinburgh (we don't have one) but there are beautiful places to see all over Scotland so it might be fun to take a leisurely route back and forth.
