ok, so i was scared when Irene came through b/c we don't get that kind of thing in the Philly area so often. Now the wise forecasters are saying this will make Irene look silly.
Is this worth an eye roll or are you running for milk, bread and eggs??

Re: east coast ladies-- ready for Frankenstorm?
The bad storm for us was the freak October snow storm last year. That knocked out our power and it was cold. We have dogs and there wasnt room at any hotels and we felt bad about leaving the dogs. I slept with dd on my chest to keep her warm. She was 5 months old.
Having 2 small kids 2u2 definatly makes me more paranoid than ever about these storms.
I'm not super worried and never usually "stock up" for these type of things, but since having DD I am a little more planned. I did go to the store today and pick up bottled water and other things we need.
I just hope it's either horrible or nothing. I'm a teacher and if it's bad I'd prefer for school to get cancelled. I really don't want to drive 45 minutes to work in horrible rain.
It wasn't even on my radar until local schools started announcing closures for Monday & Tuesday... TODAY!
I mean, I still don't think it will be so bad, but I probably won't be leaving the house since apparently my kids won't be in school!
H is going to run to the grocery tomorrow since Sunday is our usual shopping day and if its pouring I'm not running groceries around in the rain. But we aren't doomsday prepping, or anything.
We've been moving stuff out of the basement all day. We have a sump pump so as long as the power stays on, we'll be okay. My theory is if we spend all this time and effort moving all this crap, we won't lose power. DH already cleared the yard. We have several cases of water, gatorade and other drinks plus lots of canned stuff already. I stocked up on milk since we needed it anyway but didn't buy anymore than I normally would...just bought what we would normally buy for the week. DH got an extra propane for the grill. We have ton of batteries already. Both cars have full tanks of gas and DH already went to the ATM. We turned the fridge to its coldest setting so if we do lose power, it will stay cooler longer. My kindle is fully charged and loaded with 5 fluffy easy reads that I borrowed from the library.
I just hope that the airports will be fine by Friday. We have a flight on Friday night. I'm worried that we might get bumped or our flight will be cancelled as they try to deal with the backlog of all the cancellations Mon/Tues.
