Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

How long to wait and TTC again?

I had a miscarriage today and think i was very early, only 4 or 5 weeks tops. My dr said we could start trying again when my bleeding stopped. Has anyone heard its ok to start trying again and not wait a few regular cycles? My cycles are very irregular, so I want to start trying as soon as its safe. Thanks for any feedback.

  • I am so sorry you had a loss. My doctor told me to wait until I have had two periods. But I have heard others only one period. It just depends on who your doctor is, if your doctor said it is ok I would imagine it probably is.

  • i'm sorry for your loss. i also miscarried today. i was told to wait for one cycle to pass then it would be okay, but i hear conflicting opinions. i think at the least you want to make sure all the pregnancy hormones are gone first, so after a few days pee on a stick and make sure they're gone. i'm probably going to give it some time just so my emotions can catch up! take care <3

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I lost the baby at nearly fifteen weeks and Dr only told me to wait until after my first period.

  • Sorry for your loss.

I was told to wait two cycles after our loss. You should listen to the advise of your Dr.

  • I was told I don't have to wait, but definitely go on your doctor's advice. There may be a good reason she or he wants you to wait.

  • So sorry for your loss. I would listen to what your doctor says. My first miscarriage I had 2 different doctors treating me. One said wait 3 period cycles and the other said one. This miscarriage she said I didn't have to wait. I guess it depends on the situation and you doctor. Good luck!!

  • So very sorry for your loss.  We're undergoing fertility treatments and my RE said two cycles.  Not sure why (could be my AMA as well).  HCG is down to 450 today (was 17000 last time they checked) so I'm hoping to be less than 5 by next Friday so we stay on track and AF comes soon!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. My doctor told me today that they prefer if you wait a cycle, since that helps to better determine EDD when you get pregnant again. But he said there is no real medical reason to wait. I would go with your doctor's advice, but just wanted to share.

  • Im sorry for your loss.  I miscarried last Wednesday and know your pain and i have lots of emotions esp since this was my first baby.  My ob/gyn said to wait 1 or 2 regular cycles then we can try and have a baby again.  Im really nervous to try since my first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage but my husband and i really want to have a baby.  I would just give it 1 to 2 regular cycles, we plan on trying again at the beginning of the new year.
