WWYD need advice

Today was my first day back at work things at work went well and the day went by fast for me. DS has been going to daycare since last week for transitioning and is doing well there now he is 4 months old. I got a call today from our 1 daycare that we were waitlisted and they have a opening. Since I'm back at work now and DS is doing good I'm hesitant to accept the opening for him. And also since we toured the facility back in December so I don't even know if it's the same teachers etc.
What would you do? Keep LO at current daycare or switch to our 1? I am going in for another quick mini tour but even then I really don't know if it's worth switching him to a new environment and then have to worry about if he's okay while I'm back at work. I just don't know what to do! Why couldn't they have called just one week earlier??

  • It sounds like you are probably best keeping LO where he is, unless there's a compelling reason to switch like less expensive or better commute.

  • i agree that it depends on what the reasons were for making that other daycare your #1 choice.  if there is a significant cost difference, i might consider switching.  otherwise, if they both have similar setup/care, i would keep LO at the current one

  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you don't know it to be better, don't upgrade it.

  • Yeah, WHY it was 1 matters here. As said, it would need to be REALLY compelling to make me move now.

  • Depends a lot on the reason for switching.

I did recently switch daycares a month ago when LO was 4.5 months old. For him, it's been an okay transition. His naps went to crap, but I attribute that mostly to no longer being swaddled at naps, and they are getting better.  But he seems happy and progressing well otherwise, so I'm not too concerned.

  • Cost and commute would be relatively the same. I don't even know why it was 1 except for the fact that it was a nice warm infant room and the center overall was very friendly and inviting. I guess my question is would It be too much change for a 4 month old? Already had to transition him being home with him 24/7 to his current daycare. I'm afraid to change the environment yet again.
